About Us
Mrs. Yoko Sakae founded the Sakae Institute of Study Abroad (creators of the Sakae Guide), the first and foremost high school, college and graduate school study abroad career counseling institute of its kind in Japan, in 1972. In the 35 years since our founding, we at the Sakae Institute have provided study abroad and college preparation counseling for more than 6,000 proud Asian study abroad graduates of American colleges and universities. Our students are varied in age from 13 to 66 years old, and in nationality from Japan, China Taiwan, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand and many more. Also, the American colleges and universities that our students have attended total more than 600 various institutions, all with unique courses of study.
Furthermore, we can proudly say that 90% of our students at the Sakae Institute graduate with full degrees from American colleges and universities. The average graduation rate of American students is 47%, and within this Sakae's 90% is a positively excellent number. However, this is the product of the Sakae Institute's thorough application of clear and concise counseling before the student decides on his/her particular college/university, and our "Study Abroad Advising aimed at Graduating", which is the pre-study abroad education that begins after the student has picked his/her school. Because of this, the Sakae Institute has earned the respect of colleges and universities all across America, and is regarded highly for its provision of quality Asian study abroad students.
In addition to our concise counseling before study abroad, once our students are enrolled in their schools, our American office, the Sakae Institute of Study Abroad U.S.A. Inc., provides support to our students abroad.
